Nantwich MP Timpson calls for parking fairness from Cheshire East

Nantwich Tory MP Edward Timpson today called on Conservative-led Cheshire East Council to sort out the parking row engulfing the town.

Mr Timpson has written to Cheshire East Council Leader Wesley Fitzgerald, questioning the reasons why parking harmonisation has still not been implemented.

Nantwich residents and traders are angry at the “unfair playing field” which sees drivers paying 70p an hour in the town for the first hour compared to just 30p in other market towns like Sandbach.

And in Nantwich there are no free car parks, unlike in other towns.

Mr Timpson said: “Now it’s time for Conservative councillors to clean up the mess and deliver fairness for all residents on parking.

“There is a strategy, but we need to see it rolled out quicker.”
